Despite the fact that I grew up in a basketball state and attended a basketball university, I don’t really speak basketball. I admit this. I don’t play it either. My strongest shot (if ever I was to play) was in a game of H-O-R-S-E on the Ilderton’s driveway court. Facing away from the net, using both palms, feet planted sturdily, with every ounce of my core, I’d launch that ball full force. Backwards. Arching, arching. Swoosh. It was my signature move.
I feel a little too seen here, Courtney. After years spent trying to curb my more colorful inclinations (when the kids were small and impressionable, to be sure) I'm afraid I've dropped nearly all of my filters. Between the sailing and the farming, I suppose I come by it honestly. So, if you just need to get some things off your chest, I'm your girl! 😬 Same on the total lack of basketball prowess. LOL!
Also, I can't be sure (betting I know who can, though) but I would have sworn Mr. Stewart's shiny hair was actually a combover, bless his heart.
Well, I must say I was around you a lot and do not recall any of those gutter words... I know myself that they have sneaked out of my
mouth before... Your blog is so funny... So true.... I heard lots of things in youth ministry and saw lots of things.... But I discovered that if I stopped and took a deep breath, there was always a better way than a hurtful word or a grimace....for discipline..
Thank you for the smile! Our parents' generation got a lot of mileage out of the word "disappointed!"
I f%$ing love you.
I f%$ing love you too!!!!!!
LMAOOOOL

I'll send you what Cres Wilson Calabrese sent me earlier today from Steph's graduation year.
This post was powerful. Love your vulnerability and candor in conveying a painful lesson in life.
